When Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins, who's 12 years the actress' junior, met on the set of 1988's Bull Durham they were both involved in other relationships, so it was a case of friendship first. 'It wasn't love at first sight. It was deep respect at first sight," says Mystic River star Tim. "We became friends first. We had a great conversations about all kinds of things," he adds. And the rest is showbiz history.
The couple went on to have two sons, Jack and Miles, and famously have one of the strongest relationships in Tinseltown. That doesn't mean that they feel the need to head up the aisle, however. "Maybe we're saving that for old age… and a good party," says Susan. "Part of my reason for resisting is there's still so much of a tendency to treat married people as a couple, not as individuals."
