Oil tycoon and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich owns a fleet of uber-luxury vessels including the £72 million Pelorus

When it comes to high-profile yacht owners, oil tycoon and Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich tops the list. The 39-year-old billionaire owns a fleet of four stunning vessels, ranging from the £72-million Pelorus - at 377 feet the world's fifth largest private yacht - to the Le Grand Bleu, which has its own helicopter, speedboat and 22-metre service boat.
Built to incorporate the latest high-tech equipment, the top ships are kitted out, James Bond-style, with finger-print identification pads and submarines. And with no expense spared on decoration, it's not unusual to find a Picasso in the living room or Swarovski crystal-studded furniture in the dining room. Each vessel has its own team of chefs, and it's not unknown for the tycoon to take more than one yacht on vacation in order to widen his dining options. |
