Ed celebrates contemporary British cuisine in his latest work, uniting regional classics with favourites adopted from other cultures

18 FEBRUARY 2009

Ed Baines' latest book is a celebration of what it means to eat British. The UK has incredible cultural diversity and this is reflected in its food, much of which has too long languished in obscurity. In Best Of British, Ed explores this edible heritage, bringing regional recipes like Somerset pasties and Swanage Bay sea bream together with what have now become modern British classics – Caribbean chicken curry, chicken tikka masala and Chinese roast pork.

The result is approachable, modern, stylish food that's simple to boot. No complicated processes, no overworking, just the laid-back style that made Ed a popular regular on Great Food Live. Beautiful photographs and occasional anecdotes make this a great book to add to your collection.

Best Of British by Ed Baines, Kyle Cathie, £19.99.
