Heston Blumenthal is bringing his inimitable style to a new London venue in 2010

01 JULY 2009

Heston Blumenthal, renowned for his far-out cuisine, is to venture to the British capital in a deal with the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group. The Fat Duck owner will open a restaurant in the award winning hotel property in Knightstbridge in autumn next year.

Heston has three Michelin stars at The Fat Duck in Bray and also owns the Hinds Head Pub in the same Berkshire village, and has recently given the country’s much loved Little Chef restaurants a facelift.

The menu at the new eaterie will be heavily influenced by his research into historic British gastronomy, some of which was featured in his most recent TV outing – Feast.

Internationally renowned designer Adam Tihany will be creating the restaurant interior. He plans to use traditional materials such as wood, leather and iron to reinforce Heston’s revival of classic British food.

Ashley Palmer Watts, who has worked at The Fat Duck for nine years alongside Heston will be heading up the kitchen at the new London location as group executive chef.
