Treacle tart is just one of the mouth-watering recipes celebrity chef Paul Merrett showcased in his recent BBC series, Economy Gastronomy

16 SEPTEMBER 2009

Following three years working with Peter Kromberg at Le Souffle and an apprenticeship at The Ritz, Paul Merrett worked under the watchful eye of Gary Rhodes at The Greenhouse in Mayfair.

In 1997, Paul headed to Interlude restaurant in Charlotte Street where he was awarded his first Michelin star. Sadly, before he could receive the award the restaurant was bought by investors and then closed.

After a return to The Greenhouse he opened The Farm gastropub in Fulham, staying there until 2005. He left to write his second book, Using the Plot: Tales of an Allotment Chef.

He took over The Victoria pub in East Sheen, South West London and after an overhaul of the food and look, they opened in Summer 2008.

More recently Paul has presented the BBC2 series Economy Gastronomy with Allegra McEvedy.
