This year’s San Pellegrino’s World’s 50 Best Restaurant awards have been announced in London with Copenhagen’s Noma up two places to take the top spot, taking the crown from last year’s winners, El Bulli, who dropped to second place.

Over 800 international critics, journalists and food experts voted for the restaurant, run by 32 year old head chef Rene Redzepi.

The Fat Duck and head chef Heston Blumenthal claimed the number three spot, maintaining Heston’s reputation as one of the world’s most exciting and pioneering chefs. This year the gastronomic boffin took the ‘Chef’s Choice’ award, having been nominated by his peers as the ‘Chef’s chef’.

The Lifetime Achievement award went to Austrian chef Eckart Witzigmann who has built a long and celebrated career in Germany over many years. He was the first German speaker to hold three Michelin stars.

The awards took place at the Guildhall in London. For a full list of winners click here.
