Best of British with Mark Hix

Restaurateur and chef Mark Hix opened his Smithfield eatery, Hix Oyster & Chophouse in London’s famous meat market, Smithfield in 2008. It quickly garnered a reputation as one of London’s top spots with foodies and celebs.

Hix Oyster and Chop House is the book of the restaurant, packed with over 100 diverse and delicious recipes that have popped up on the menu throughout the year, focusing on an interesting and carefully chosen ingredients.

The book follows a menu style with starters, soups, fish, meat and desserts as well as cocktails, which his new eaterie, Hix Soho, has developed a fierce reputation for.

Oysters are a Hix favourite and as such there is a large guide in the book dedicated to them. There's also a comprehensive section on meat and a look at some unusual and old-fashioned cuts that have recently returned to favour like ‘hanger’ or ‘onglet’.
