A very British fish

06 OCTOBER 2010

Tilapia has been widely used in African cooking for many years and has recently begun appearing in the fishmongers or the fish counter at your local supermarket.

It’s a great alternative to your typical white fish like sea bass and its robust, well textured flesh stands up well in things like Indian and Thai curries – or as goujons for the kids.

With the growing awareness about food miles, traceability and ethical sourcing, buying British tilapia is a step in the right direction. The fish are farmed by the Fish Co in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire which also means it is spankingly fresh by the time it gets to market.
