22 AUGUST 2014 The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has taken the social media world by storm and Britain's top celebrity chefs were no exception. As Jamie received three nominations to experience the gruelling ice shower he said in his video, which he later uploaded to Twitter, that he would "step it up a little bit" - and the chatty chef stayed true to his word. After taking a seat and pulling a handle, Jamie proceeded to be soaked by a tractor's load of ice cold water, captured in slow motion in his video.

Prince Harry and Russell Brand were nominated by Jamie to take on the challenge. While Russell Brand stepped up for the good cause, royal watchers are still waiting in the hope that Prince Harry will take part in the phenomenon.

Will Europe's royals take on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge?

Two of Jamie's daughters made an appearance on the video to take the chance to announce the further nomination of three "Youtubers".

Hell's Kitchen star Gordon Ramsay's children also got involved in his Ice Bucket Challenge video, which the TV chef later posted on his Instagram account. Gordon waited in anticipation for the ice shower as he nominated daughters Holly, Tilly and Megan Ramsay, as well as Hollywood hunk Bradley Cooper, to carry on the fundraising frenzy.

A drenched Gordon fell forward and started running around his garden after the shock of cold water was poured over him with the help of his four kids and a friend.

The Ice Bucket Challenge is in aid of helping to raise awareness and money in support of ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease and Motor Neurone Disease, a condition that attacks the spinal cord.

Other celebrities to have taken part include Victoria and David Beckham, Kate Moss, Jennifer Lopez and Leonardo DiCaprio.
