Last year celebrities including Beyoncé and her husband Jay Z, Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Simpson all hailed veganism, taking up the diet and making weight loss look easy. If you've decided to go vegan this January, or are still playing with the idea, here are 10 tips and products that will help you succeed.

Green veggies Green vegetables such as kale, broccoli, seaweed, peas and spinach, beans and pulses, grains and nuts are all excellent sources of protein, so eat plenty and you won't miss meat at all. Sweet potato Perfect for adding to curries, stir frys, cutting into chips or wedges.

Nākd Cocoa Orange The on-the-go vegan snack of choice. Nākd bars are vegan, one of your five a day and made with just fruit and nuts. Almond Milk Rude Health Almond Milk tastes great and is free from additives unlike other leading brands. Add to cereal, coffee or tea. Avocado Mash up a whole avocado, add fresh lime, a sprinkling of chilli and enjoy. Hummus Don't fall down on that much-needed afternoon snack. The Dip Society do a great hummus with chilli and mint that, served with carrot and celery sticks, makes the perfect healthy and vegan snack. Dark Chocolate Chocolate is by no means off-limits for vegans, and vegan dark chocolate is a coveted and much-loved product - try Divine's mint dark chocolate.

Peanut butter Going vegan doesn't mean cutting out all fun foods, and most peanut butter is vegan. Try Whole Earth on Chia and Flax Seed Rye Bread for the ultimate breakfast. Mushrooms Stuff mushrooms with roasted veg, add some vegan cheese - great for a quick lunch.
