They’ve graced catwalks and been the ‘faces’ of prestigious cosmetics companies the world over, but now twelve of Spain’s top models have posed nude for a new book which aims to draw attention to environmental damage through eye-catching images.

The country’s young beauties agreed to be photographed naked by Catalan photographer Jaume de Laiguana to illustrate the vulnerability of the environment in the face of ravages such as deforestation and urban pollution.

The arresting pictures include Esther Cañadas caked in dried mud, representing drought; Estefanía Luyk drowning in a pool of plastic bottles; Verónica Blume surrounded by toxic gases; a blackened Eulalie Martine in a forest devastated by fire; and Eleonora Bosé (niece of top-selling singer Miguel Bosé) among piles of rubbish bags, with rats crawling over her body.

Twenty percent of proceeds from sales of the calendar-style book will go to Greenpeace.
