When Kate Moss gave birth to a baby girl two weeks ago, reports said the model and her partner, publisher Jefferson Hack, had named the infant Lola. But the couple, who had remained tight lipped about the rumours, have now decided to make public the baby’s true moniker – Lila Grace.

A representative for the 28-year-old beauty says that Kate decided to end the guessing game after weeks of speculation in the media. “In response to numerous press inquiries, Kate Moss and Jefferson Hack are pleased to announce that their beautiful baby daughter is to be called Lila Grace,” said the statement. Lila is an Arabic word for “night”.

Kate’s modelling agency commented that previous talk that the little girl’s name was Lola – also the nickname of Madonna’s six-year-old daughter Lourdes – was “just people getting it wrong”.
