Karolina Kurkova had to face a runway of a very different kind when she swapped the catwalk for a bowling alley on Thursday. The Czech supermodel showed off her sporting skills when she met up with a group of her showbiz friends for a night of ten-pin fun.

Dressed casually in tight-fitting jeans and a baggy cotton top, the svelte beauty joined in the competition at the Chelsea Piers Bowling Centre in Manhattan. Film director Spike Lee and actor Philip Seymour Hoffman also went along to the annual Knicks Bowl fundraiser, which is staged by the legendary New York basketball team to raise money for children's charities.

The event gives fans a chance to share the lanes with some of their greatest sporting heroes. But anyone hoping to join in the fun needs to have a healthy bank balance, because the tickets run at £650. Those eager to impress their friends by renting out an entire lane, meanwhile, have to part with a whopping £10,000.

Organisers say it's all for a good cause, though, because the money paid is all earmarked for the Cheering For Children Foundation. The charitable organisation works with 120 after-school programmes around the Big Apple, providing activities for around 30,000 youngsters.
