The Paris haute couture shows were a great source of inspiration, with top names from the fashion world presenting to-die-for creations ranging from fairyland fantasy to aisle-perfect glam.

At Chanel the bride was a vision of loveliness in a high-neck sheath of tiny ruffles, while Giorgio Armani went in the other direction with a sleekly minimalist, figure-hugging affair. Elie Saab's bridal offering was similarly feminine, with a hugely full silk skirt falling from a gleaming strapless bodice to deliver the ultimate princess-style silhouette.

Meanwhile Christian Dior's bride looked as though she'd strayed from some fairy grotto, as models including Lily Cole sashayed down the runway in plumed headdresses and layers of floaty tulle. At John Paul Gaultier the look was decidedly alternative, with the designer presenting his take on a Russian Ice Maiden in a myriad textures of fur, fabric and feathers.
