Master milliner Philip Treacy showed exactly why he's still the prince of headwear when he sent some of the most famous names in modelling down the catwalk in a startling array of hats during the London shows on Thursday.
For his autumn/winter 2006/7 collection the Irish designer – who famously provided the headpieces worn by Camilla at her wedding last year - seemed to have taken his inspiration from magic markers. The result was a flurry of movement-filled squiggles in day-glo hues, which appeared to have been drawn, cartoon-style, across the models' features.
Somalian supermodel Alek Wek was showcasing two very distinctive looks, a structural fuchsia "flame" and a head-hugging beanie with eye-catching spiral detailing, while Birmingham-born Erin O'Connor sported a free floating "spectacles" affair in shocking pink.
The pieces accessorised the Irish milliner's first footwear and clothing collection in collaboration with sportswear label Umbro, which debuted at London Fashion Week.
