Having twice deferred taking up her place with the prestigious educational establishment, catwalk queen Lily Cole finally entered the hallowed walls of Cambridge academia after enrolling at the university this weekend.

The model, who has given up a budding film career - she stars alongside the late Heath Ledger in Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus - to undertake a three-year course in History of Art, joined 134 other students at the King's College Chapel for the university matriculation ceremony.

Afterwards the flame-haired model, who gained straight As in English, philosophy and ethics at A-level and was originally planning to study Social and Political sciences, joined her peers to sign the College book before going on to a formal dinner.

Lily, who says she'll continue modelling in the holidays, is keen to get to know her fellow first years. "That's what I'm looking forward to about going to university," she says, "meeting lots of new people."
