Breaking into the notoriously difficult world of fashion is no mean feat, as any burgeoning designer will tell you.

So for Victoria Beckham, having an A-lister showcase your clothes is a fantastic endorsement – particularly if that celebrity is supermodel Elle Macpherson.

The elegant Aussie was seen in one of Mrs Beckham's self-designed dresses this week as she filmed scenes in New York for The Beautiful Life, the Ashton Kutcher-produced TV series also starring Mischa Barton.

Elle, 46, chose a £2,095 Carmontelle cashmere blend dress from Posh's collection – a grey form-fitting shift with a peplum frill waist - as she got to work shooting in the Soho district of Manhattan this week .

Eagle-eyed fashion fans will notice that this is not the first outing for the frock. Victoria, 35, herself debuted the design two weeks ago as she shot an advertising campaign for the Victoria Beckham Collection in Notting Hill.

Posh's designs are evidently a real hit with Elle. In June, the blonde mum of two chose the Spring 09 figure-hugging black bandeau from her collection to wear to the launch party for Ashton's drama series.

The outing came nine months after the designer herself wore the £1,500 dress at the Marc Jacobs Fashion Week presentation in New York, where she also showed off her new pixie cut.
