Nominated in three categories, she was the name best poised to sweep the board at this year's British Fashion Awards, the highlight of the annual fashion industry calendar. And Stella McCartney certainly triumphed on Tuesday evening, scooping two prizes at the prestigious event. The designer picked up Designer of the Year and Designer Brand, a double coup insiders have deemed well-deserved after her designs were put on an international stage with the GB kits that she created for the Olympics and Paralympics.

And the daughter of Paul McCartney certainly looked delighted to be rounding off a wonderful year with such an achievement, unable to hide her broad smile as she accepted her awards dressed in one her signature satin jumpsuits that with side-panel embellishment. Hollywood star Salma Hayek was on hand to present Stella with Designer of the Year. Wearing a fringed black minidress, the diminutive star looked gorgeous as she playfully twirled for photographers on the red carpet.

Meanwhile, Alexa Chung picked up British Style, an award decided entirely by the public vote, for the third consecutive year. And the TV presenter proved just why she continues to come out on top, showing off her fashion credentials in a lacy black drop-waist dress.

The Red Carpet award, which last year went to Stella after dressing handfuls of celebs in her optical illusion dresses, was given to Roksanda Illincic. Her designs have been spotted on the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Amy Adams, Amber Heard and Jessica Chastain. And most notably, she was responsible for the cross-over, black and dove-grey midi dress that Keira Knightley wore to the London Film Festival premiere of A Dangerous Method. Meanwhile, Sex and the City cobbler Manolo Blahnik, whose designs were immortalised by the hit TV show's main character Carrie Bradshaw, was honoured with the Outstanding Achievement in Fashion award. And Cara Delevingne, who has ruled the runways this year, appearing on the catwalk for major fashion houses from Burberry to Victoria's Secret, fittingly took home Best Model.
