Star styles: a riot of prints and bold colours at the Golden Globes
One of the most star-studded events in the film and TV calendar, the
Golden Globes not only encompasses an exciting and elegant award ceremony, but a fashion parade like no other. A whirlwind of savvy A-listers show off their sartorial style every year without fail, displaying the latest wares of the hottest designers and season’s best trends.
And there was a definite theme to the many outfits that were sashayed down the red carpet this year. From sultry black to midnight blue, flower power to understated nude, an evident colour spectrum swept the scene on Sunday, with show-stopping coral and classic cream taking the reign for coolest colours of the event.
Floral prints bounced back for the prospect of spring worn by stylish celebrities
Lucy Liu and British beauty
Sienna Miller, while the inevitable appearance of vintage cream lace and elegant all-black were firm favourites among stars such as
Eva Longoria and
Amanda Seyfried.
Midnight Blue: Dark and dreamy, navy blue brings with it the same simplicity and elegance to an all-black gown, but with a little more edge. It is the ideal choice for lace or semitransparent chiffon as discovered by Glenn Close, Sally Field, Julianna Margulies, Jodie Foster and Morena Baccarin
Nude: A more discreet colour palette to opt for, the colour nude adds an air of understated elegance to any look. Celebrities such as Megan Fox, Jennifer Lopez and Amanda Seyfried wowed thanks to their flawless lace embellished numbers and subtle make-up choices
Black: Always a classic option, it's no surprise that elegant black was a firm choice for many celebrities at the Golden Globes, who teamed their full-length numbers with an added touch of detail. Among them were Eva Longaria, whose thigh-high split in her stunning Emilio Pucci gown was a hit and Adele who wore a lace fringed dress. Others accessorised with statement jewellery and bold clutches to add individuality
Floral Inspiration: Embroidered, printed or laced... flower designs paraded down the red carpet this year, adding femininity and girly fun to the Globes. While Emily Blunt went for subtle sunny yellow lace, Tina Fey's L'Wren Scott frock had a monochrome colour scheme and a bold print. Others, like Lucy Liu, Ariel Winter and Sienna Miller opted for a spot of color to give their looks a lovely lively touch
Coral: It was one of the favourite shades on the runways in 2012 and it looks like it's here to stay for 2013. From Zooey Deschanel to Jennifer Lawrence, Jessica Alba in Oscar de la Renta to Marion Cotillard in Christian Dior, each star stuck to the striking coral colour, while adhering to their own personal style
White: Each sporting their own detailed gowns mastered by the most prestigious and sought-after designers, the likes of Lea Michele who wore Elie Saab, Hayden Panettiere in Roberto Cavalli and Les Miserables star Anne Hathaway in Chanel couture were red carpet ready in stunning ivory white
