Five reasons to be excited about New York Fashion Week

Designers, models, celebrities, editors, photographers and fashionistas will flock from all over the world to New York this Thursday as the Big Apple kick-starts the biannual four week-long fashion extravaganza.

And there's a lot to get excited about – Harper Beckham is rumoured to be making an appearance on mum Victoria's front row, red carpet favourite Monique Lhuillier will unveil an inevitable parade of show-stopping, Oscar-worthy gowns and John Galliano is set to make a return to fashion with his collection for Oscar de la Renta.

Check out the pictures below to see the five things that HELLO! Online's fashion team is getting excited about this New York Fashion Week.

Harper sightings: In September of last year, she bagged a front row seat on her mum's lap to see her new collection. So we'll be looking out for VIP show attendee and budding fashionista Harper Beckham as Victoria unveils her latest offerings on Sunday

Oscars inspiration: Monique Lhuillier is a red carpet favourite, dressing the likes of Julianne Hough, Thandie Newton and Kristen Stewart in her fairytale creations for big awards ceremonies. So keep your eye out for an inevitable parade of show-stopping gowns and perhaps a few A-listers sitting front row for Oscars inspiration on Saturday

Marc's after-party: Marc Jacobs is renowned for throwing the most starry, fabulous after-parties in the city. Following his show, he rounds up A-listers (past attendees have included Jessica Simpson, Anne Hathaway, Selma Blair and Pixie Geldof) and whisks them off to a swanky venue for a night of fun. Make sure to check the site on Tuesday morning for the pictures of the lavish affair

The return of John Galliano: Since his dismissal as creative director from Christian Dior in 2011, John Galliano has spent two years out of the limelight. But on Tuesday, the designer will make his return to fashion when he unveils his collection with Oscar de la Renta

People watching: New York always pulls a starry crowd. From fashion power couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West to George Clooney's girl Stacey Keibler and front row-regular Olivia Palermo (pictured here at Marchesa), high profile shows are packed with A-listers
