“A wedding is a true statement of yourself and your dress should reflect that” – British designer Helen Morley
Apart from whom she decides to marry, what she wears for her wedding is probably the most burning question for most brides. For many, the choice of gown represents an expression of individuality and may used to pay homage to her own cultural heritage or that of her husband-to-be. When she wed Pakistani cricket star Imran Khan in a Muslim ceremony in Paris in 1995, for example, London socialite Jemima Goldsmith wore traditional shalwar trousers and kameez shirt by Bombay designer Tahrun Tahliani. Wedding creations can also reflect personal favourites from the current haute couture collections, with the Central European gypsy look, rustic peasant and Russian ice princess all being given a nuptials interpretation.
