Twenty-three-year-old Laetitia Casta, who was chosen to represent France’s “Marianne”, gave birth to her first child, daughter Sahteene, in Paris in October 2001. The Corsican model’s transition to motherhood was, however, very much a private affair. When the French press first began speculating over whether she was pregnant or not, Laetitia and her 36-year-old photographer boyfriend Stéphane Sednaoui neither confirmed not denied the reports. When Sahteene arrived, the couple made it clear the birth of their daughter was something apart from the very public life of the fashion scene, asking the media "to respect this happy, private event”. Since the family’s relocation to New York, the former model, who has also carved out a cinema career for herself with films such as Savage Souls and 1999’s Asterix And Obelix, has devoted herself to her newest role as a mum. |
