The pupils of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry are back in the classroom in Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets, the sequel to the fantasy film blockbuster of 2001. This latest adventure brings together the same beloved cast of actors, including Daniel Radcliffe as the world's most famous wizard in training.

The new instalment, which runs for two hours and 40 minutes, is said to be faithful to the JK Rowling novel on which it is based, though some note the tone is much darker than the first film. "If you take away the darkness then you haven't done the book justice," says now-teenage Daniel, who has been described by producers as "more of a leading man" in the new flick. And, he adds: "Everybody has a dark side. So it was great to show Harry's dark side, (that) he's not flawless, he's not the perfect person."

The 13-year-old star, who has signed on for a third instalment, Prisoner Of Azkaban, says director Chris Columbus has given him "a love of film" and inspiration to perhaps follow in his footsteps behind the camera. And Chris, whose hits include Mrs Doubtfire and Stepmom, reciprocates the praise. "The great thing about Daniel is the way he hasn't changed," he says. "He still thanks me after giving him a direction. That just doesn't happen. Julia Roberts doesn't thank you."

Harry Potter And The Chamber Of Secrets, which also stars Alan Rickman and new cast member Kenneth Branagh, opens in the UK and the US on November 15.
