Over a thousand people gathered in London's Leicester Square on Thursday night, to welcome a 15-foot green giant with a tendency to wreak havoc.

They had come along for the premiere of The Hulk, which is already making its mark on the US box office. And the crowd let loose a huge cheer when the movie's star, Eric Bana, arrived on the red carpet in a sharp charcoal suit.

"I looked everywhere for a green suit but I couldn't find a nice one so I had to make do with this," joked the Australian hunk. In the movie Eric plays a mild-mannered scientist who turns into a green monster whenever he gets angry. His somewhat anti-social condition is the result of a nuclear experiment that goes wrong.

He was joined at the screening by co-stars Jennifer Connelly and Josh Lucas. Jennifer looked characteristically radiant as she walked up the red carpet with British husband Paul Bettany. The Oscar-winning actress is expecting their first child in just a few weeks.

Eric's fellow Antipodean Holly Valance also turned out, along with model Nell McAndrew and boxer Chris Eubank.
