Irish actor Colin Farrell and his former girlfriend, model Kim Bordenave, have welcomed a baby boy.

The 7lb 9oz infant, whose name is rumoured to be Padraig, was born on September 12 in Los Angeles, according to Irish newspaper reports.

Though Colin's busy schedule – he's currently filming Alexander The Great in Morocco – meant he wasn't able to be present for the birth in the US, the Farrell family was represented. The handsome movie star's sister Catherine was on hand to welcome the little bundle of joy.

The star had revealed he and Kim would be first-time parents last March. "It's so cool," he said at the time. "I'm chuffed and over the moon."
