Edinburgh was awash with kilts this week as tartan-clad thespians, including 24 star Kiefer Sutherland, gathered in the Scottish capital to celebrate the nuptials of the actor’s stepdaughter Michelle Kath.

Michelle, the daughter of Kiefer's first wife Camelia Kath – with whom the Flatliners actor also has a child, Sarah Jude – tied the knot with Scottish actor Adam Sinclair at Edinburgh's City Chambers. London-born Kiefer wore the Douglas tartan, teaming it with a traditional jacket and white shirt and tie.

The actor, who at one point sneaked out of the building for a quick cigarette with a fellow guest, also took time out to chat with fans and pose for photographers before the ceremony kicked off.

Married and divorced twice, Kiefer was once engaged to Julia Roberts – a relationship which famously came to an end at the eleventh hour when the Pretty Woman star called off their nuptials just before the wedding.
