In a case of life imitating art, Bridget Jones star Renee Zellweger has returned to the world of singletons after breaking up with her boyfriend, White Stripes singer Jack White.

The 35-year-old actress, who is currently busy promoting the latest instalment in the adventures of plump neurotic Bridget, was reported to be engaged to the singer, with nuptials forecast for Christmas. She and Jack apparently parted amicably two months ago, however.

Oscar-winner Renee met her musician former beau on the set of Cold Mountain and the two were an item for two years. The star is adamant that her new status doesn't bother her, saying: "I don't worry about it because I think you can't predict when you are going to find that ideal someone. I'm not in a hurry. It'll just happen when I'm not expecting it."
