Kate Beckinsale and Hollywood heart-throb Leonardo DiCaprio were flying high as they were greeted by hordes of fans at the premiere of their new flick The Aviator. Co-star Gwen Steffani and her rocker husband Gavin Rossdale joined director Martin Scorsese and premiere guests David Schwimmer and Michael Moore for the star-studded event in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
The epic film focuses on the early years of entrepreneur and Hollywood producer Howard Hughes who managed to transform a small fortune into a massive one.
Leonardo plays the eccentric billionaire whose romances with some of Hollywood's most desirable women became as legendary as his wealth. The film documents his relationships with leading ladies Ava Gardner, played by Kate Beckinsale, and Katharine Hepburn, by Cate Blanchett. Meanwhile, Gwen marks her big screen debut as she portrays actress Jean Harlow.
Leading man Leonardo has indicated that The Aviator was amongst the most challenging roles of his career.
"I got to meet a lot of people who really knew the man, and they gave me a lot of real good inside information about who he was," Leo said, adding, "and, you know, at the end of the day, he was a huge Paul Bunyon-like public figure, but he was also extremely private, so I got to sort of make my own interpretation of who he was."
The Aviator is released across the UK on January 14. |
