After the awards have been handed out and the red carpet rolled up the fun really begins for Tinseltown’s brightest stars. Hundreds of celebrities – including many of the night’s nominees – head for the hottest spots in Hollywood, to celebrate into the wee hours at exclusive post-Oscar parties.

At the Academy’s official celebration, the Governors Ball, actor Warren Beatty and his wife, Oscar nominee Annette Bening, rubbed elbows with best supporting actress winner Cate Blanchett. Best actor Oscar winner Jamie Foxx was among the last to show up, arriving a fashionable two hours late.

Over 1,500 A-list guests, including big winners Clint Eastwood and Hilary Swank, descended on the Kodak Theatre’s Grand Ballroom to dine at rectangular tables decked out in scarlet and topped with exotic orchids. The gourmet dinner included a host of delicacies such as slow-braised beef ribs with a wild mushroom crust, and Maine lobster with black winter truffles imported from France.

After the meal few people chose to dance, instead the dance floor turned into a schmoozing centre where best supporting actress nominee Kate Winslet and her husband director Sam Mendes caught up on gossip, sipping champagne and nibbling on a host of desserts prepared by celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck.

Meanwhile, in West Hollywood, Morton’s restaurant was once again one of the hottest tickets in town as Vanity Fair hosted its annual Oscar fest. Jamie Oliver and his wife Jules were among the celebs taking in the fun as they partied on into the evening alongside the recently engaged Heidi Klum and Seal.

Later on, as the Oscar cocktail party got under way at Morton's, Tom Cruise caught up with former flame Penelope Cruz, while Adrien Brody mingled with husband and wife team Pierce Brosnan and Keeley Shaye Smith. Also among the 1,000 celebrities who received hand-delivered invitations for the event were Beyonce and her beau rapper Jay-Z, and recently married Donald Trump and wife Milania.
