The Cannes Film Festival got off to an exotic start on Wednesday as a bevy of international beauties hit the cinema extravaganza's paparazzi-lined red carpet.
Indian superstar Aishwarya Rai led the list of world-renowned stars adding sparkle to the occasion, making a stunning entrance at the opening ceremony with French model-actress Laetitia Casta. Equally elegant was Laetitia's compatriot, 61-year-old film legend Catherine Deneuve, who showed she's as striking as ever in a low-cut magenta gown.
Also stepping out for the gala was Mexico-born actress Salma Hayek, highlighting her famous curves in a figure-hugging creation. The Frida star serves on the jury for the Festival along with actor Javier Bardem, director John Woo and novelist Toni Morrison.
On Thursday, the festival continued with a photocall with the headliners of Woody Allen's latest Hollywood project, Match Point. The movie features a transatlantic lineup – American starlet Scarlett Johansson as well as British export Emily Mortimer and Dublin-born Jonathan Rhys Meyers. |
