When most Hollywood stars decide to invest in a new set of wheels, gas-guzzling Humvees and Ferraris tend to be the order of the day. George Clooney is not one to blindly follow trends, though, and, in keeping with his independent spirit, the hunky actor's latest runabout is anything but ostentatious.

The Ocean's Eleven star has been spotted zipping around Los Angeles in a Prodrive Tango, an electric car made in the UK by father-and-son team Rick and Brian Woodbury. The vehicle, which seats one person up front and one in the back, offers the perfect way to beat the traffic as it is only 39 inches wide.
George has been using his purchase to commute to and from the set of his new movie The Good German, though he has opted to have the windows of the unusual-looking vehicle tinted black, presumably because it attracts more than enough attention from passers-by before anyone even realises who is behind the wheel.
The 44-year-old was apparently so impressed with the Tango's design that he decided to have one shipped out to his Los Angeles mansion. The eco-friendly car relies on two electric motors for its power but, unlike other non-petrol vehicles, it can comfortably clock up speeds of 100mph. Indeed the modest-looking two-seater accelerates from 0-60 in just four seconds, putting it in the same range of many of the "supercars" made by elite firms like Porsche and Aston Martin. And with a price tag of £45,000, it is rather more competitive, in economic terms at least, than its more famous cousins.
