KEIRA AND REESE LUNCH WITH OSCAR NOMINEES

14 FEBRUARY 2006

She's shared screen-time with Hollywood eye candy like Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom, but Keira Knightley proved at a pre-Oscar lunch that she can still come over all starstruck. At the Beverly Hilton Hotel the young talent rubbed shoulders with Reese Witherspoon and Charlize Theron, but it was a silver-haired charmer of the opposite sex who caused the excitement.

"I just saw George Clooney," she exclaimed on her way in to join other Academy Award hopefuls including Brokeback hunks Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger, who was accompanied by girlfriend Michelle Williams.

The object of Keira's attention - who has a clutch of nominations for his flicks Good Night, And Good Luck and Syriana - remained nonchalant over the Oscar buzz. "If you were going to Vegas and you got 20 per cent odds would you take that?" was George's comment on his chances of taking home a gong from the Kodak Theatre.

Another celeb who seemed airily unaffected by the attention being heaped on her was Felicity Huffman. The Desperate Housewife turned up an unfashionable two hours early. "I helped set up the tables," she joked.

Asked if she was worried few people would see her transsexual drama, Transamerica, Felicity said she planned to wear a sandwich board advertising the flick. "And I'll have a bell. So I'll be going around ringing the bell."
