FUN AND GAMES FOR SHARON STONE IN ISRAEL

9 MARCH 2006

Sharon Stone has offered a tempting new incentive for those campaigning for peace in the Middle East. The glamorous actress, who is currently visiting Israel to promote International Women's Day, said she would be happy to lock lips with anyone who could bring an end to the country's long-running conflict with Palestine.

A room full of reporters erupted in fits of laughter when the Basic Instinct actress made her surprising offer. "I would kiss just about anybody for peace in the Middle East," she declared.

The performer, who turns 48 on Friday, also got the chance to show off her sporting prowess when she played a game of football with a mixed group of Israeli and Palestinian children. The silver screen siren, who is in town at the invitation of Nobel Peace Prize winner Shimon Peres, wants to foster better relations between the two communities.

Ever since suffering a near-fatal brain aneurysm in 2001, Sharon has become one of Hollywood's leading humanitarians. Coming close to death, she says, helped put things in perspective. "The experience got rid of any remaining fears I had – about life, about death," she explained. "I still have much to do but I do not fear for the future." As for the ongoing public interest in her romantic life, the mum of two says she's currently on the lookout for a new man. "I hope love at first sight still exists at 50," admits the blonde bombshell.
