The red carpet turned into a fashion catwalk on Tuesday as two ultra glamorous film premieres competed for attention. Leading ladies Uma Thurman and Brittany Murphy showed off their bombshell looks in fabulous frocks as they attended the screenings of their latest flicks.

Mum-of-two Uma delighted fans in a beautiful floral gown with plunging neckline at the New York premiere of My Super Ex-Girlfriend. The gorgeous 36-year-old, looking tanned and toned from a recent holiday in Saint Tropez, showed up minus her on-off beau, hotelier Andre Balazs.

In her new movie Kill Bill beauty Uma is a superhero dumped by her boyfriend - played by Legally Blonde's Luke Wilson - who takes revenge by using her powers to make his life a misery. Her co-star clearly struggled with the film's plot, jokingly explaining he had to call on all his acting abilities to play a character that would split up with the leggy star. "It's not that believable," admitted Luke. "When we were shooting the movie, she would do something really crazy and funny, which I find so attractive, and I'd have to remind myself, 'Now remember, Luke, you want out of this relationship'."

Brittany Murphy, meanwhile, was turning up the heat in Hollywood with a slashed to the thigh number. The Atlanta-born beauty opted for a draped sea-green gown accessorised with summer's must-have metallic sandals. Her new film The Groomsmen, which opens in the US on Friday, is written and directed by Ed Burns, who also plays the role of Brittany's wavering fiancé.

My Super Ex-Girlfriend hits UK cinemas on August 4 and opens in the US on July 21.
