With the two women in his life on each arm, George Clooney made a very dapper return to the red carpet this week to mark the opening of his new film.

The handsome Hollywood star brought along both his girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis and his former pageant queen mum Nina to share in the occasion – perhaps the strongest sign to date that his new romance is serious.

The trio, dressed in black, were all smiles as they stepped out for the screening of comedy-drama Up In The Air. And if Elisabetta was nervous about being introduced to her beau's mum she certainly didn't show it.

The event topped off a busy day for George and the Italian TV presenter, 31, who earlier landed in Los Angeles after jetting in from the Mexican resort city of Puero Vallarta, where the actor has a home.

The couple have spent most of their five month relationship in Elisabetta's native Italy at George's lakeside mansion in Lake Como. They only recently jetted to Mexico on the way to LA – the first time the brunette has accompanied her boyfriend there.

Also at the screening of the film - starring George as a career transition counsellor who travels the country firing people, until his own job is put on the line – was Cindy Crawford.

The beautiful model and her husband Rande Gerber, who are both great friends of the 48-year-old Hollywood star, were showing their support for his new project.
