After months of tantalising images of the Sex and the City girls filming the follow up to the first big screen instalment, there's finally a chance to check out what's in store in the movie's first official trailer.

As Alicia Keys and Jay Z's hit Empire State of Mind plays in the background, we're shown images of the show's characters in their typical fabulousness.

Carrie - played by new mum-of-three Sarah Jessica Parker - looks blissfully happy in her marriage with Big.

Meanwhile Kim Cattrall's character Samantha's on the lookout for hot men, and Charlotte - aka Kristen Davis - is embracing motherhood.

And good news for Miranda, played by Cynthia Nixon. It looks like she's sorted out her problems with Steve.

Little about the plot is given away, though there is a clue that an exotic trip is included.

Carrie says: "Sometimes you just have to get away with the girls." Meanwhile we are shown footage of the girls on location in Morocco, trekking across the desert on camels.

Rumoured storylines for the new flick include Carrie's marriage to Big being tested, Miranda leaving her high-flying job as a lawyer, and Samantha having to downgrade her glamorous lifestyle.

Fans can find out for themselves exactly what happens when the film opens in the UK and the US on May 28.
