Lilly, the eldest daughter of football sensation Steve and wife Alex, has always been a huge fan of Corrie and decided she wanted to be an actress after visiting the set with her family in February.

Lilly, her sister Lexie and Steve were photographed enjoying a tour of the iconic set in Manchester while Alex stayed at home with one-year-old baby Lourdes.

Steven and the girls also met some of the cast including Sue Johnston, who plays Gloria Price.

It was after the trip that Lilly is said to have told Steve and Alex that she wanted to star on the show, a source reported.

"They are great parents and started making enquiries to see if there was any way to get her on as an extra.

"As Lilly is a minor they had to get it all officially sorted out through their local authority.

"Then they spoke to Corrie and managed to get her a part in Tuesday’s filming," the source revealed.

Coronation Street confirmed Lilly-Ella had been hired through the "usual channels" and were said to have been delighted with her perfomance on set.

"She was a great little actress and a very hard worker," a source said.

Mum Alex, confirmed "she done well thanks and she loved it x" to one of her followers when asked how filming had gone.

Lilly's role is minor and did not require her to learn any lines, although the whole Gerrard family are very excited about her small screen debut.

Lilly Gerrard will appear among other extras in the background scenes of Coronation Street within the next four to six weeks.
