The singer is ideally placed to offer his perspective on what contestants will be going through after getting his big break with his band JLS on ITV star search The X Factor in 2008.

New dad Marvin – who welcomed daughter Alaia-Mai with wife Rochelle in May - joins fellow presenter Emma Willis when the show returns in January. The duo are replacing last season's hosts Reggie Yates and Holly Willoughby.

"I have always been a big fan of [The Voice] and love that musicians are given such a great opportunity to reach such a wide audience," he said.

"I'm thrilled to be working alongside Emma and be a part of a new team on The Voice. It's going to be even bigger and better with this new series. I can't wait to start."

The fourth place on the show's coaching panel has yet to be confirmed. Kylie Minogue, Tom Jones, and Will.i.am have so far been announced as big names taking part next year
