Happy birthday, Tom Cruise: See his star sign and read your horoscope

03 JULY 2014

Happy birthday, Tom Cruise! As the actor turns 52, HELLO! Online takes a look at what the stars have in store for Tom and you…

Cancerians are infamously open to persuasion. Astrologers are always eager to make this point. And they believe it so keenly that they paint you as a most marvellously malleable, fantastically fluid individual with practically no ability to remain stable or consistent! If only they knew the truth. You can adapt, of course, but you far prefer things to stay the same. You are now finding it very hard to get used to a change. Be strong. Persuade yourself that what's new is good. You can only benefit from what now seems so unfamiliar.

Read your horoscope for today.

Nominated for an Oscar three times and the winner of three Golden Globes, Tom Cruise is one of Hollywood's most successful and prolific actors.

After starting his career in the early 1980s in Endless Love, the 52-year-old went on to star in some of the 1980s biggest and most remembered films, including Risky Business, Top Gun, and Cocktail.

He won his first Golden Globe in 1989 for Born on the 4th of July, which also gained him his first Academy Award nomination.

He married his first wife Mimi Rogers in 1987, and his second wife Nicole Kidman in 1990. In the early 1990s Nicole and Tom starred in several high-profile films, such as Days of Thunder.

1996 became one of Tom's most important  years career-wise as the first Mission Impossible film was released to box office success, and he received his second Academy Award nomination for the romantic comedy Jerry Maguire.

The Mission Impossible franchise is now on the world's most successful, with four films under its belt and the fifth, also starring Tom, currently in pre-production.

Tom and Nicole have two adopted children together but divorced in 2001.

In 2005 he began dating Dawsons Creek actress Katie Holmes. The pair have one child together, a daughter named Suri, and married in 2005 before later divorcing in 2012.

Tom is a believer in the Church of Scientology. In 2005, he caused a stir when he said that there is no such thing as a chemical imbalance, and that psychiatry is a form of pseudoscience after actress Brooke Shields revealed she was on antidepressants for postpartum depression. Tom later apologised to Brooke.
