Johnny Depp to star with daughter Lily-Rose in new film

20 AUGUST 2014 Johnny Depp's next film project will be a family affair – the Hollywood star is appearing with his daughter Lily-Rose Melody Depp on the big screen.

The Depps have both been cast in Kevin Smith's new comic book movie, Yoga Hosers. Budding actress Lily-Rose, 14, is the co-lead in the upcoming film, along with Kevin's own daughter, Harley Quinn Smith.

Yoga Hosers is the follow-up to Kevin’s last film Tusk, and is the second instalment in his True North trilogy of films, which are centred around Canadian myths and legends.

"People always ask me, 'Are you ever going to make a comic book movie?'" the film-maker said. "This is it – but instead of yet another dude saving the day, our antiheroes are the most feared and formidable creatures man has ever encountered: two 15-year-old girls."

Lily-Rose and Harley - reportedly friends from school - will play Canadian yoga lovers Colleen Collette (Lily-Rose) and Colleen McKenzie (Harley) who have an after-school job at a convenience store called Eh-2-Zed.

"When an ancient evil rises from beneath Canada's crust and threatens their big invitation to a Grade 12 party, the Colleens join forces with a legendary man-hunter from Montreal named Guy Lapointe (Johnny Depp) to fight for their lives with all seven Chakras, one Warrior Pose at a time," the press release says.

It is not the girls' first on-screen appearance; they made a brief appearance in Tusks, and their characters in Yoga Hosers are spin-offs from that.
