"Strictly Come Dancing is an incredible show," said the newly married star in a statement. "I've always loved watching it on TV and to be honest I'm flattered to have been asked to take part before, but due to certain work commitments was unable to.

"I now feel the time is right to give it a go – everything has just clicked into place to do it this year. Wish me luck please… argh!!"

"Everything has just clicked into place to do it this year," said Peter, who married Emily MacDonagh in July

Peter and his new wife Emily MacDonagh, 26, married in July in Exeter, after a three-year relationship. The pair got engaged in January of last year, around the same time that Emily gave birth to their daughter Amelia.

For some time now rumours have been swirling that Peter would take to the dance floor. And it wouldn't come as a surprise if he was paired with professional dancer Ola Jordan.

The Polish beauty, who first performed on Strictly in 2006, has openly said that she would like to coach the dad-of-three.

"I want a celebrity who can dance, someone to take me all the way to the final. Peter Andre, please!" she told The Sunday People back in June.
