Jay McGuiness once again wowed the judges this week with his Doctor Who inspired Charleston. The singer was keen to impress the judges and the audience at home in order to clinch a spot in next week’s coveted Strictly Come Dancing final. The former boy band singer received the high score of 37 for his energetic and enthusiastic dance. However it wasn’t without it’s faults, as it looked like that the 25-year-old dropped his dance partner Aliona Vilani during the routine.

Jay impressed the judges with his charleston

Referencing the incident judge Craig Revel-Horwood said "Jay, that was brilliant [but] I didn’t know whether you meant to drop Aliona or [whether it was] a style choice." Darcey agreed, adding: "It was energetic, it was alive, it was full of style. That was odd at the end but you recovered well." Judge Len Goodman didn’t dwell on the mishap and simply said: "You didn’t appear to be under pressure. You came out confident. I thought it was fantastic routine. "Adding to the pressure of the looming finals, Jay was also keen to impress his good friends and former The Wanted bandmates, Max George and Tom Parker who were in the audience.

Eastenders actress Kellie Bright also scored highly in the Strictly semi-finals

Also receiving positive comments from the judges was actress Kellie Bright. For her second performance of the evening, the Eastenders star took to the floor with dance partner Kevin Clifton to perform their American Smooth to Irving Berlin’s Let’s Face the Music and Dance.Ecstatic with their performance the couple beamed as they faced the judges for their comments. "That was a classice, darling. I thought you danced it absolutely beautifully, I really did," said the usually critical Craig. Backing the couple to go all the way, head judge Len agreed saying: "Tonight is all about who deserves to get to the final. 100 percent, if you’re not there…!"
