The trailer also depicted Victoria's occasionally rocky relationship with the Prime Minister, Lord Melbourne (played by Rufus Sewell), while others doubt her ability to rule, as well as a glimpse of Queen Victoria's courtship and marriage to Prince Albert (played by Tom Hughes).

The star's lavish costumes and hairstyles throughout the trailer give her a striking resemblance to a young Queen Victoria, from her traditional black dresses to her spectacular coronation gowns. Fans have been quick to praise Jenna's performance in the trailer, with one tweeting: "I just want to spend the whole day watching the Victoria trailer honestly it's just perfect," while another wrote: "Can't wait for 'Victoria' to come to ITV! Jenna Coleman will be an amazing queen!"

Speaking about her new role, the 30-year-old told WhatsOnTv: "I'm delighted to be cast as the young Queen Victoria in this ambitious drama about her life. Victoria is a vivid, strong, inspirational and utterly fascinating woman. I can't wait to tell her story!"
