Meryl Streep fixing Ryan Gosling's bowtie

Meryl Streep gave us a reason to love her even more on Sunday night. The acclaimed actress came to Ryan Gosling's aid at this year's SAG Awards, where she was pictured fixing the La La Land star's bowtie as they took their seats at the 23rd annual ceremony. Although neither of them walked away with a prize, both actors stole the limelight with their sweet moment. Meryl was nominated in the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role in a Motion Picture for Florence Foster Jenkins, while Ryan received a nod for La La Land in the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role in a Motion Picture category.

Emma Stone's shocked reaction

After her success at this year's Golden Globes, Emma Stoned appeared extremely shocked when her name she was awarded the Outstanding Performance for a Female Actor gong at the 2017 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday. The La La Land actress fought off competition from four other impressive leading ladies as she scooped the top honour. Also in her category were Amy Adams, nominated for Arrival, Emily Blunt for The Girl on the Train, Natalie Portman for Jackie, and Meryl Streep for Florence Foster Jenkins. During her speech, Emma stumbled a bit with her words, noting she was "going to faint" once she noticed the countdown clock. She went on to commend her fellow actresses, saying: "You are the greatest and your talent and intelligence are mind-blowing." After her speech, the actress walked away with her head in her hands alongside presenter Jonah Hill.

Denzel Washington's surprise win

Huge congratulations to Denzel Washington, who took home his very first Screen Actors Guild award. The 62-year-old was awarded with the Best Actor prize for his role in Fences, defeating favourites Ryan Gosling and Casey Affleck. "Thank you very much," he told the crowd. "You know, I am a God-fearing man. I'm supposed to have faith, but I didn't have faith. God bless you all, all the other actors. I'd say, 'You know, young boys are going to win, you ain't going to win.' So I didn't even prepare. But I am prepared!"

Winona Ryder's amazing facial expressions

Stranger Things might have taken home the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series - but it was lead actress Winona Ryder who stole the show. During co-star David Harbour's impassioned acceptance speech, the 45-year-old actress gave some priceless facial expressions as she stood up on stage with the rest of the cast. Her reaction caused a social media frenzy, with one Twitter follower writing: "I will be using #WinonaRyder #SAGAwards gifs all week as we try to get through another week in Trumpland." Another added: "Never seen anyone experience as many emotions within a minute as #WinonaRyder did during @DavidKHarbour's #SAGAwards speech. #StrangerThings."

Stars get political

After Donald Trump's controversial immigration ban, Hollywood stars used their platform to call for peace and unity. Julia Louis-Dreyfus slammed the President's so-called "Muslim Ban" – she told the audience: "I want you all to know that I am the daughter of an immigrant. My father fled religious persecution in Nazi-occupied France, and I am an American patriot and I love this country." Mahershala Ali gave an emotional speech, highlighting the importance of coming together instead of letting our differences cause a separation. As he accepted his award for outstanding performance in a dramatic role, the star said: "I think what I have learned from working on Moonlight is we see what happens when you persecute people: they fold into themselves. My mother is an ordained minister. I am a Muslim. She didn't do backflips when I called to tell her I had converted 17 years ago. But I tell you now, you put things to the side. And I am able to see her, and she is able to see me. We love each other and the love has grown. And that stuff in minutia – it's not that important."
