Keira Knightley has made a surprise appearance in the international trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's RevengeThe star, who appeared as Elizabeth Swan in the first three films of the popular franchise, was absent for the fourth film, but will appear in the new instalment along with Orlando Bloom, who has also returned to the franchise in his role as Will Turner, Elizabeth's husband.

The Love Actually actress was only spotted in the trailer for a moment, where she is dressed in a gown while looking out onto the horizon, but fans were clearly delighted to spot her, with one writing: "Golly Elizabeth sure hasn't aged a day since the first movie." Another added: "I DIDN'T EVEN THINK SHE WAS GOING TO BE IN THIS MOVIE OH MY GOODNESS IM SO EXCITED."

Keira and Orlando will appear in the film alongside their son, Henry, who will be played by Brenton Thwaites. Speaking about his role, he told the Mirror TV: "It's about a young man who wants to reconnect with his father…There's a curse that prevents him from doing that. I think it's about how he goes around that and tries to fix it and he has to save his dad."

Johnny Depp will reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow, and the official synopsis reads: "Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Capt. Jack Sparrow feels the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost sailors led by his old nemesis, the evil Capt. Salazar, escape from the Devil's Triangle. Jack's only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it, he must forge an uneasy alliance with a brilliant and beautiful astronomer and a headstrong young man in the British navy."
