Things heated up on Britain's Got Talent when Jennifer Lopez gave an exclusive performance of her new single on Tuesday night, sending thousands of viewers to take to Twitter to complain. Looking sensational in a tiny black leotard, fur bolero and fishnet tights with thigh-high boots that revealed her incredible figure, the star performed Live It Up on the first live semi-final of Britain's Got Talent.Simon Cowell was quick to praise the multi-platinum album-selling singer after her breathtaking performance: "Seriously, JLo. If anyone wants to know how you do it. That's how you do it," he said. "Seriously world class."

But not everyone agreed with the music mogul and show's judge. By Wednesday, broadcasting industry regulator Ofcom had been inundated with complaints from indignant viewers who were dismayed to see JLo's explicit dance routine aired on the family show. Although the 43-year-old's raunchy act was shown after the 9pm watershed during the results show, lobby group Mediawatch UK said the programme had deliberately targeted younger viewers by screening the episode during the half-term holiday.

The performance, which saw the scantily-dressed star dance among white tuxedo-wearing male dancers who lifted her off tall scaffolding before joining in an energetic routine, sparked campaigners to call on Ofcom to 'crack down' on ITV for airing the performance on a show that is watched by millions of children.

A spokesperson for Ofcom said: "Ofcom can confirm that it has received complaints about the Britain's Got Talent broadcast…, which we are assessing but not currently investigating. "Meanwhile, Britain's Got Talent and ITV's rep told the MailOnline: "We do not believe that Jennifer Lopez's performance would have exceeded the expectations of the vast majority of the audience for this long-established entertainment programme. "It proved to be an exciting start to the live semi-finals all round. The judging panel couldn't decide on the second act to be put through to the next stage – in the end it was singing sensation Arisxandra who became the second act to go through, meaning she will join Richard and Adam at the live final on 8 June. Operatic brothers Richard and Adam were sent home.
