TV historian Dan Snow's wife Lady Edwina Grosvenor suffered a miscarriage six months into her second pregnancy. Speaking to the Sunday Express, the BBC presenter confirmed that his wife of three years Lady Edwina, 30, had sadly suffered a miscarriage.

"We're happy for it to be published," said the 34-year-old. "It's happened and we're not hiding anything. And yes we'll be trying again." Dan, the son of former BBC Newsnight presenter Peter Snow, failed to appear on screen last week for the last show in a live series on Heathrow airport.

Viewers were told at the time that there were 'last-minute family reasons' for his absence. But on Sunday the historian revealed that he had missed the show to be at his wife's side. The couple, who have decided to be open about the sad news, already have a two-year-old daughter called Zia. Lady Edwina, who works as a criminologist, is the daughter of the Duke of Westminster, the country's richest landowner with a £ 7 billion fortune. She married Dan, the youngest son of Peter Snow, three years ago in a quiet wedding ceremony.

Dan presented his first programme in 2002 after graduating from Oxford and has since appeared in numerous documentaries including the BAFTA award-winning Battlefield Britain, which he collaborated on with his dad.
