He's back! Danny Dyer has been spotted returning to the set of EastEnders following a six-week break to rest and recharge. The soap star, who plays Mick Carter, is said to be fighting fit after his time off. He will reappear on our screens in June, taking his place behind the bar at the Queen Vic.

Danny, 39, was seen arriving on set on Monday in a Porsche 4x4 with a big smile on his face. A source told the Daily Star: "Danny has been missed these last few weeks. So it was a welcome sight seeing him drive back into the studios with a cheeky smile on his face. He picked up his scripts for filming a couple of weeks back. The scenes are classic soap, full of emotion and drama."

Another insider told The Sun: "Everyone is looking forward to having a refreshed Danny back on the show. He's a big character on and off the set and his absence was really noticeable. Danny has taken some time out and is raring to go again. He'll be required for scenes from the start of next week."

The actor, who married childhood sweetheart Jo Mas in September in a wedding exclusively covered by HELLO!, was last seen on screens at the end of March. Viewers watched as his character Mick made a swift exit from Albert Square upon hearing the news that his daughter Nancy had been hit by a car in Bulgaria. The scene, which lasted less than a minute, saw Whitney booking a plane to Sofia for Mick so he can be by Nancy's side, with the family using baby Oli's savings to pay for the flight.

Danny was on a temporary break from EastEnders after reportedly suffering from "exhaustion". He booked a short holiday to South Africa, where he was photographed by a fan looking well and rested. After his departure, a BBC spokesperson confirmed that no exit storyline had been prepared for Danny, and that he would be back in a matter of weeks. "Danny is on a short break from EastEnders," the statement read. "This was not enforced by bosses, nor has he quit the show."
