Despite being one of the movie industry's most sought-after leading men, Ben Affleck's life hasn't always been easy. The 31-year-old has travelled a bumpy and often difficult road to become one of Hollywood's hottest hunks.
Born Benjamin Geza Affleck in California in 1972, he grew up the son of a mechanic and a schoolteacher. His father Tim's struggles with the bottle eventually forced the family apart, and Ben was just 11 when his parents divorced.
After graduating from High School in 1990 he studied for a semester at the University of Vermont before dropping out and starting college for a second time, to read Middle Eastern studies. He still didn't feel he'd found his niche, however, and after quitting once again he moved in with movie-mad friend Matt Damon. |
