As a child Orlando was inspired by seeing Superman, and at 16 he joined the National Youth Theatre. There he spent two years honing his craft before winning a scholarship to London's British American Drama Academy. His film debut in Wilde, came in 1997. A flood of movie offers followed, but he chose to concentrate on theatre work. His breakthrough role, as the elf warrior Legolas in Lord Of The Rings, came as he graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and he soon found himself working with such notable directorial names as Ridley Scott. |
